Contabo setup
Contabo Setup is where you configure your Contabo API credentials. These are used when creating and managing Cloud VPS instances (list, create, start/stop, snapshots, reinstall, etc.). Without valid credentials, the server list will not load and you cannot create or manage servers.
Where to find it
In the client area: Server Manager → Contabo Setup, or go directly to /server-manager/contabo-setup.
Fields
- Client ID – From your Contabo API / developer settings.
- Client Secret – From the same place; keep it confidential.
- API Username (email) – Your Contabo account email used for API access.
- API Password – Password for that account (or API-specific password if Contabo supports it).
After entering credentials, use Test connection to verify the API responds. Then click Save to store them.
Reinstall – which OS images to show
Contabo Setup also lets you choose which image types appear in the Reinstall dropdown on each server’s manage page:
- Contabo ISO (standard images) – Default Contabo OS images.
- Custom ISO – Custom/uploaded images.
Only selected types are shown. If both are unchecked, the Reinstall dropdown will show no images.
Same credentials in Reseller settings
You can also set Contabo API credentials (and DNS/ResellerClub) in Server Manager → Reseller settings (/server-manager/reseller/settings). The platform uses the same reseller settings for API access; Contabo Setup and Reseller settings are two places to configure the same data.
